...even if you want to. Today, I debugged my Unix professors C++ program.
I started my college in Computer Science, learning the hell that is C++. And I would have stayed with it, but I ran out of memory... Haha. It was my first language and I hate it with a burning passion. Today was the first time I thought about it in 2 years. When I saw the code and my professor was all, "Okay now whats wrong here, why isn't this working..." My mental muscle-memory kicked in and as if I was a robot programmed for response I blurted "STDIO.H IS FOR C, YOU HAVE TO USE IOSTREAM FOR C++". I was so ashamed.
So I ask, what was YOUR first language, and how do you feel about it today?
great job dude, keep up the work
ReplyDeleteC++, and I feel like I've forgotten it. Dropped out after 3 months.
ReplyDeleteComputer guys are shit teachers

ReplyDeleteLol at first I thought it was legitly about love/girlfriends - haha, anyhow. First language I attempted to learn was VB, but I failed so moved to C, failed at that so now I'm doing HTML lol
ReplyDeleteI learned C, and then html, and then I forgot html and I am now starting C++!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, you dont really forget your first language.
...English. I never learned how to program. *Hides in shame in the corner.*
ReplyDeleteI personally need to learn the C++ standard functions, but other than that I'm fairly comfortable porting code FROM C++ . Right now I know C#,Perl, Python, VB.NET, PHP and a few others.
ReplyDeleteI'll say, once you learn and get to know know one good language, it's not very hard to pick up others.
But keep it up dude, programming is easy after a while :)
when i was real young kid my dad taught me pascal!
ReplyDeletei learnt some c++ back in 8th grade, got over it quickly haha. moved onto engineering :)
ReplyDelete0 language skillz. What can I do to learn some, which is best?
ReplyDeletei tried doing some computer science class in high school...
ReplyDeletethey set us up with some really shitty alice program.
i dropped the class before we got to any language.
Alan, learn Java. Its a good language to start with.
ReplyDeletei learned C++ if you can call it learning i took it for a semester in college and it makes me sleepy still xD
ReplyDeleteJava. Hate it.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is HTML and the basics of CSS. Aside from that I just Google shit. I don't bother with programming, if it doesn't work anymore, FORMAT THE BITCH! Tell that to every customer where I work. "Software problem? Format it."
ReplyDeletePascal. Haven't used it since. I actually really like C++ :S
ReplyDeletehehe my first was C, but i haven't really pursued it much after
